PNG Power has added a power boost of K50,000 to the Institute of Engineers PNG (IEPNG) to host its National Conference in April.
This financial support gives the state-owned electricity company the platinum sponsorship right.
PPL acting GM for Operations and Maintenance, Luke Malemba said the company have over 200 engineers and it feels right to support the conference.
He added that with PPL embarking to move away from its heavy reliance on fossil fuel too renewable energy to generate electricity, the theme of the conference is in line with the company’s policy.
The conference will be held between April 18-20 with the theme, ‘Innovative and Sustainability’.
Conference co-chair Tony Morisause during the presentation today said more than 30 research papers are expected to be presented during the duration of the conference.
He highlighted the need for PNG engineers to develop local engineering methods and also technologies which will suit the country’s climate and condition.
“We must really try to bring home grown solutions,” Morisause said.
He added that many engineering methods and technologies developed in Western Countries do not suit PNG because of its climate and geography.
