PPL, ADB and GoPNG sign loan agreement

The Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG) signed a K150m Loan Agreement today with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to kick start a Town Electrification Investment Program (TEIP).
The ceremony also saw the signing of a Lending Agreement between PNG Power (PPL) and GoPNG to release these funds to PPL for implementation of the first phase (tranche) of TEIP.
Secretary for Department of Treasury Mr Simon Tosali said the government in its bid to address access to reliable and affordable power, had approached ADB for assistance.
PNG Energy Sector Developmental Project

Electrician Licence & Inspectors Certificate Exams

1. LICENSING OF ELECTRICAL TRADES PERSONS AS LICENSED ELECTRICIANS
I, Tony Koiri, Chief Executive Officer, by virtue of powers conferred by the Electricity Industry Act 2002, and all powers enabling me, do hereby give notice that an Examination as prescribed under Part VA of the Act (Licensing of Electrical Contractors and Electricians) will be held at 8:30AM TUESDAY MAY 10, 2011 on the subject THEORY OF APPLIED ELECTRICITY and at 8:30AM WEDNESDAY MAY 11, 2011 on the subject of PNG WIRING RULES. This examination will be based on PNG Standard 1022 (AS/NZS 3000:2007 WIRING RULES AND AS3008.1.1:1988 for Selection of Cables).
ELIGIBILITY:
- • Be 19 years and above
- • Have completed Apprenticeship
- • Holder of an Electrical Trade Certificate
- • Electrical Engineering graduates must posses at least 5 years work experience.
Application forms for Examination are available at any PNG Power offices and should be lodged no later than March 31, 2011 nationwide including Port Moresby.
2. CERTIFYING LICENSED ELECTRICIANS AS CERTIFIED ELECTRICITY INSPECTORS
I, Tony Koiri, Chief Executive Officer, by virtue of powers conferred by the Electricity Industry Act 2002, and all powers enabling me, do hereby give notice that an Examination for Electricity Inspectors will be held at 8:30AM WEDNESDAY MAY 11, 2011. This examination will be based on PNG Standard 1022 (AS/NZS 3000:2007 WIRING RULES AND S3008.1.1:1988 for Selection of Cables).
ELIGIBILITY:

Licensed Electrician with a minimum of 5 years work experience.
