Current Tariffs & Charges
The Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) has approved a 9.91% increase in tariffs and charges for 2011 except for scheduled services which were adjusted based on the underlying PNG CPI. The following is the schedule indicating the current and the new rates that will apply from 1st January, 2011.
These are the undertakings by PNG Power under the watchful eyes of ICCC in ensuring that the services provided and tariffs set are in line with the regulatory requirements.

Our current tariffs and charges for electricity, connection and supply and other services supplied to you under the contract are set out in the price list. Some of the tariffs and charges are regulated by law.

What tariffs and charges apply to you ?
Customer Categories
Customers applying for electricity service will be supplied electricity and charged either a Domestic rate, General Supply rate, Industrial rate or Streetlight rate and the definitions of the customer categories are as follows:
Domestic Customers
A customer is a Domestic Customer in respect of premises if that Customer consumes or intends to consume electricity supplied to those premises principally for domestic or household purposes and that Customer is not a General Supply Customer or an Industrial Customer in respect of those premises.
General Supply Customers
A customer is a General Customer in respect of premises if that Customer has a minimum demand for electricity of less than 200kVA at that premises, but who does not consume or intend to consume that electricity principally for domestic or household purposes.
Industrial Customers
A customer is an industrial Customer in respect of a premise if that Customer has a minimum demand for electricity of 200kVA at the premise, irrespective of the purpose for which electricity is or to be used, and such demand to be determined by a demand meter connected to that premise over any period of 12 consecutive months in the period of two years before the date of calculation or if electricity has been supplied for a limited period, as estimated by the Regulator on application by either party.
Streetlights
A person, City Authority or Provincial Government who is responsible for providing streetlights is deemed to be a customer for the purpose of applying the prescribed streetlight rate and charges. The annual streetlight charges and the rate applying to metered streetlights are based on the General Supply Rate.
STANDARD CUSTOMER SUPPLY AND SALE CONTRACT
This contract sets out the terms on which PNG Power will connect the Customer’s supply point to the electricity distribution network, maintain that connection, supply electricity to the Customer at the supply point and sell electricity to the Customer.
ELECTRICITY CODE
The Electricity Code is issued by ICCC and its purpose is to regulate the service of electricity to customers. Customers who wish to obtain a copy of the Standard Customer Supply and Sale Contract and the Electricity Code should enquire at the nearest Sales Office or write to the Director Customer Services for a copy of each document.
