SURVEYOR – NATIONAL OFFICE

Requirements

Primary Objectives:
Reporting to the Team Leader Survey, this position is responsible for providing accurate and reliable survey data for various projects, including land development, infrastructure projects, and construction. Expertise required will be crucial in ensuring the precision and accuracy of our spatial information. The role will also be responsible to take charge and assist in all funded survey works associated with new and existing Generation, Transmission, Substation, Distribution and any other PPL works.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Tertiary Project Management qualification or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience:
The position holder must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a Surveyor position within the power industry. Ideally the successful applicant for this position will have experience working on major projects that involve PNG  nationals working alongside contractors from various cultures. Specifically, the position holder should have significant experience and be able to demonstrate success in the following areas:

  • Conduct various types of surveys, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, construction stakeout, control surveys, and as-built surveys. 
  • Operate and maintain a range of surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, levels, and data collectors. 
  • Collect, process, and analyze survey data using relevant software ([e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Leica Geo Office]). 
  • Prepare accurate survey plans, maps, and reports. 
  • Interpret survey plans, legal documents, and other relevant information. 
  • Establish and maintain survey control points. 
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, planners, and other project stakeholders. 
  • Ensure all surveying work is conducted in accordance with relevant regulations, standards, and company procedures. 
  • Perform field calculations and checks to ensure data accuracy. 
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior survey staff, if required. 
  • Maintain accurate records of all survey activities. 
  • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures on-site.
  • Sound knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and legal frameworks relevant to Papua New Guinea.

Critical Skill & Attribute Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in operating and maintaining modern surveying equipment (total stations, GPS/GNSS). 
  • Expertise in using survey data processing software ([e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Centre, Leica Geo Office]).
