MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE SUPPORT ENGINEER

Primary Objectives:
Reporting to the Team Leader Mechanical, this position is responsible for assisting the Team Leader and the mechanical maintenance team in maintaining the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all mechanical equipment and auxiliaries across the power stations within the Rouna Hydro establishment. It focuses on the upkeep and repair of mechanical systems at all Rouna power stations, ensuring efficient and reliable energy production. It is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining turbines, generators, and other mechanical components
Minimum Qualifications:
A recognised Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Must be registered with the Institute of Engineers PNG (IEPNG)
Minimum Experience:
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, preferably within the energy generation sector. Experience working in hydro power stations is highly desirable. The candidate should possess significant expertise and demonstrate success in the following key areas:
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on all mechanical equipment, including turbines, generators, and other machinery.
Identify and resolve mechanical issues, ensuring prompt corrective actions and minimizing downtime.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to prevent equipment failures and optimize performance
Analyze system performance data and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability
Work with electrical engineers, civil engineers, and other specialists to coordinate projects
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, prepare reports, and keep records of equipment repairs
Proficiency in computer-aided design (AutoCAD) for technical drawings and schematics, along with expertise in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), particularly MEX, to streamline maintenance operations and asset management
Working knowledge of Occupational, Health and Safety regulations applicable for the power industry
Must be a member of IEPNG
Critical Skill and Qualifications
Relevant experience in hydroelectric plant operations and maintenance, or similar power plant settings.
Ability to diagnose problems, analyze data, and develop solutions.
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills (Oral/Written/Verbal)
Project Management skills
Knowledge of Industry standards
Working knowledge of OHS legislations and requirements
